Yep, the elite got the three red rings. Good news though is microsoft is sending me a box to ship it in, no charge for shipping or repair. But it will take three weeks to fix, AFTER they get it. This blows ass.

Had the same thing happen with my Elite. By the time I sent it in and got a new one back, a month had passed. Longest month ever. :rofl3:

Happend to my first one as well. It took about a month to get it back, then I sold it and bought the Elite on debut day. now I'm without the elite as well. This blows. Yesterday my brain was fried from work, check engine light turned on in my car as I was sitting at the ATM at a stop, go home want nothing more than to blow shit up and blow off some steam. game loads and right as I pick my wepon....poof. It freezes, screen goes blank and the red rings appear. Looks like I'm stuck to palying drums/guitar for the next month.

I heard it takes 5 weeks total on average... :notamused:
At least you didn't have MY problem...
I bought my original Xbox 360 Premium (way before they had HDMI) in January of 2006. I had it in the open so it would vent well, and with a Nyko fan cooler hooked up to it the whole time. It lasted until June 2007 when I got the RRoD while playing an HD-DVD of The Matrix (yes, I bought the damn external HD-DVD player back in the day...). I tried the "towel trick" that was online, and that didn't work.
Of course, this was after the 1 year warranty had gone, so I was stuck. I brought the broken console (sans the 20GB hard drive) to GameStop, and they bought the broken system, cables, 1 wireless controller, and fake carbon fiber skin for a whole ~$58 or so (wow...). I then bought a "just-released a month earlier" Elite (full retail of course...), along with an EXTREMELY overpriced GameStop 1-year warranty (because I didn't want a dead $500 console and the hassle of sending it to Microsoft).
And guess what... A couple weeks later, Microsoft announces that it has extended the 360's warranty to 3 years... :offended: Imagine my annoyance, anger, and frustration... Well, THEN imagine what I felt when a month after THAT, Microsoft cut the price of the Elite by $50... :cursin:
Fucking shit... That was my luck. Hell, that's ALWAYS my luck... :pout:
Oh well, so far my Elite hasn't RRoD on me... If it does, I'll send it back, get it fixed, sell it, and get the NEW Jasper-based Elite... :notamused:

I'm not to far away from that situation.
I bought the o.g. xbox on debut day. worked perfect until I bought the 360 on debut day. Never had a problem with the o.g. one. Sold it a month later after it just sat in the closet, guy plugged it in...screen pops up saying software issue send to microsoft. HAHA.
So a month after the warranty ended on the frist 360, RRoD. The guy told me on the phone that it was a power supply failure and it was $167 to get a new one. I asked what happens if thats not the problem, he said they dont misdiagnose things. Yeah right....even with a 1/2 million dollars worth of comp gear in our shop we can misdiag something and thats when its sitting in front of us. He was telling em what was wrong with it over the phone....get fucked. I hung up on the guy that was in India or wherever, called back and got a sexy sounding chick in Atlanta. I sent it in, paid $157 plus shipping to have it fixed. Got it back no issues.
Bought the Elite on debut day sold the white 360....mostly becuase I wanted a black one, HDMI was the capper though now I'm here. I'm glad they send a box with all the shipping paid and whatnot though, thats pretty cool.

I never had any issues with my premium that I bought the week they came out. Sold it to buy the Elite and a week later the guy said it got the rrod. Luckily Microsoft replaced his for free. Had my Elite less than a year, and got the rrod. The whole transaction, while drawn out, is very seamless. Wait for the box, send it off, and wait for the replacement. Mine was actually replaced, not repaired. Probably a refurbished one, but eh...
