It is my firm conviction that ANYONE selling ANYTHING door to door cannot be trusted. Case in point. The government is mandating that all houses must be retrofitted with high efficiency water heaters by 2011 and today the first of these door to door vultures came to the house to extol the virtues of signing with his company. Only $15.99 per month and with the government tax credit installation and removal of my INEFFICIENT water heater would be FREE. Imagine that – catch is they want you to sign a 15 year contract. Let’s do the math on that 15.99 per month for 15 years that’s about $2878.20. A quick look at home depot reveals that the most expensive water heater a tankless on demand unit (like the kind they use in Europe) is $1500.00 and the unit they were offering was also there but for $719.
