Well I've got a new bike.... or at least that it what it feels like after getting back on my Derbi 125 after a couple of days training on a GS500E. I've unlocked an extra level of performance after riding the bigger bike. I'm much more comfortable chucking my Derbi around. Today has to be the warmest, driest and sunniest day of the year so far... perfect for bunging some thermals under my leathers and hitting the twisties

I went for a ride with my friend Adam who was riding his new R1. With it's fancy cross-plane crank R1 and massive power my Derbi was hopelessly outclassed. Adam finished the break-in during the first 20miles of the ride. I was leading so I could ride at my pace, and Adam could watch my riding and critique it. What a guy eh? Riding a beast like his R1 behind a noob on a 125. So there he sat, just behind me as I headed out for some fun on the twisty roads south of Bristol, my target was Chedder Gorge.... I love it. Each exit, from the tight climbing turns, seems to melt seamlessly into the entry for the next. Rock walls close by really give an extra sense of speed and dare I say it... danger. The rhythmic surge-dive-flick left-surge-dive-flick right-.... is just magic. The R1 didn't have any room to lay down the massive power advantage and I very quickly dropped Adam as I put my new found confidence in riding into practice. Of course when we hit the straighter section at the top of the gorge I was shown where my 125 was lacking!
Damn this motorbiking is fun!![]()
You guys.....
